Can you believe it has been 20 years!!??
Back in 1992 when we were in Year 12, Paul Keating was the Australian Prime Minister, Wayne Goss was the Queensland Premier, and home loan interest rates were between 10 and 12% ....Windows 3.1 was released by Microsoft, the first Nicotene patch was introduced, and DNA Fingerprinting was invented....France Euro Disney opened, Bill Clinton became the US President, and Prince Charles and Princess Diana separated...Brisbane Broncos won the NRL Premiership, Strictly Ballroom and Romper Stomper were on at the movies, one and two cent coins started being removed from circulation, and Queenslanders voted against Daylight Saving in a State Referendum.
Some of the number one hits in 1992 were Under the Bridge (Red Hot Chilli Peppers), Black or White (Michael Jackson), Take it from Me (Girlfriend), Let's Talk About Sex (Salt n Pepper), Jump (Kris Kross), End of the Road (Boyz II Men), Achy Breaky Heart (Billy Ray Cyrus), To Be With You (Mr Big), Save the Best for Last (Vanessa Williams) and I Will Always Love You (Whitney Houston).
All of this seems like a lifetime ago, and yet it only seems like yesterday that we were chanting war cries at sports carnivals covered in coloured zinc, walking up the steps in lines into the MPC to sit our QCST, spraying the Year 10 lockers with deodorant and somehow it caught alight, thinking of excuses not to do cross country, vigourously debating if bike pants were bad for female hygiene, and sitting around discussing our formal dresses...those were the days!
Well now is your chance to catch up with all the old familiar faces, share some stories and have a few laughs. It's been Twenty Years ladies, so let's get together and celebrate. Whether you joined us in Year 12 or left in Year 8, whether you were a teacher, student, gardener or priest, all are welcome to come. No partners though, just to keep it simple.
When: Saturday 21st July 2012
Where: Indooroopilly Bowls Club on the outdoor terrace
Time: 6.15pm
Cost: $35 per person. This includes champagne on arrival, finger food and a fork dish.
Optional Tour of the School beforehand:
Meet at the Holy Lawn at 5pm and Gina Brosnan will be our tour guide. It would be great to get a good sized group to be part of the tour. The school has changed a lot, and I am sure there will be a lot of memories and laughs from doing a walk around.
RSVP: ASAP as we need to confirm numbers. Please deposit $35 into the account details below, and reference your full name (your name while at school) so we know who has paid.
Account Name: Katie Beachy-Head
BSB: 064012
Account Number: 10085548
Reference: Your Name while at school eg 'Kylie Nolan'
A spreadsheet record of payments will be kept and name tags available at the door. Thanks Griff for managing all this!!!
We look forward to seeing everyone there...scroll down further for a trip down memory lane.
